RUBY HIGHWAY

RUBY HIGHWAY began a father-son music project and resulted in this release of the first RUBY HIGHWAY album “Here to there and back again” Recorded at Newclear studio in Windsor NY with Jeff Stachyra. Jeff is a very talented producer, writer and musician. This was recorded when Vin came out to NY and so the title. Vin returned to KY and now has three acts he now is working, and they include LUNCHBOX MARGARITAS and BLACK HAND GYPSY. LUNCHBOX now has songs released to social media and BLACK HAND is in the process. Vin also has a third act he is working with and that is seasoned players who are well established as jazz and progressive players.  Nick overcame some unexpected health issues and released PALE ROOMS as a second CD and now calls the whole thing the RUBY HIGHWAY SYSTEM.  A third CD is in the works and Vin played some on both. It is a great thing to do these recording with my son. Soon we will begin promoting and that plan includes live shows here or there for both of us. Private web site RUBYHIGHWAY.COM which will also have family photos and history. Fund raisers for local sports teams, schools and youth teams only.  Artwork from a few local artists and many other things. Nick has established RUBY HIGHWAY LLC as an operating platform and also Buttice publishing and became a BMI publisher member. He has close to 100 copyrights and will be shopping those songs to companies and welcoming song writers to his “book”n

I started playing guitar when I was 13 in a guitar and piano class. Having been around music my whole life, it was something that came to me quickly. I got serious about playing guitar when I was 17 years old and really began diving into classic rock, blues, and jazz music. I began learning everything I could in those genres. I would listen to and try to learn anything from Led Zeppelin to John Coltrane. Music took over. I started taking lessons from Richard Harris in Cortland, New York and was writing music with my dad, Nick, simultaneously.

Born on Staten Island in 1958. moved to Bainbridge NY 1967. Began playing guitar at age 7 when I was bitten by a dog on my left arm and my father thought this would be a good way to keep using my left forearm and develop dexterity and strength. Years late a cousin Michael Di Donato turned me on to Bob Dylan and I learned some folks songs. I played in the stage band in high school and sang in the chorus. Around age 16 I began to have these episodes where a song would just occur, and I would grab the guitar or piano and let it flow out. I have the initial recording of some and really thought everyone had this gift. Not so. Through the years I have come to understand this more and also to face and record those songs that I had pass through me that dealt with emotional issues. A song of lost love is hard to hear or sing again. Not anymore. I am living in the purging and clearing of the past while reliving it some in many songs. At 60 my son encouraged me to start recording again and I am so fortunate to have that.
