Ruby Highway is a father-son music project. Nick and Vinnie Buttice began writing music together after Vinnie had graduated high school. The songs are a mix of Nick’s songs, some dating back to (earliest song year), and Vinnie’s songs that he began writing in 2014. Nick and Vinnie spent several years crafting the songs at home together, fine tuning arrangements and lyrics. In 2019 we began recording the music at Newclear Studio in Windsor, New York. Vinnie would travel to New York from his home in Lexington to record with Nick. As the music progressed, so did the ideas. We spent many hours over the phone discussing parts and what the next steps would be. The music spans generations and styles yet give good insight to the future recordings as we hone a more centralized style. Our influences are vast and varied, ranging from Nick’s studying of classical guitar at a young age to Vinnie’s keen interest in blues guitar legends like BB King, Eric Clapton, and Stevie Ray Vaughn, then back again to Nick’s study of legends like Gary Moore and Steve Howe.
